The Internship (Sort of)

Just like every of my other recent stories, this one will begin with the mandatory “It’s been long since I last wrote.” 😛 I’ll then say that it has been like what 1,2,3.. well 6 months since I wrote 😛 Then I’ll move on to saying about things that happened these last 6 months. That’s the essence of my every usual story, I know 😉

This one will be no different. So now that I’ve already cleared the air and said what I’ll be saying about, let me start saying it 😛

Well most of the people reading this already know enough about me to know that this year is the year I complete my engineering. For the new people in my life and/or my blog, first of all, a warm welcome :) And second of all, well I’ve already mentioned that this year is when I complete my engineering 😛

So what happened these last 6 months that’s worth sharing? What happened is the most common thing in any engineering student’s life when you think of “6 months” 😛 Plus the title is a giveaway. Yea I had my final year internship :) (more…)

Reading my old diary

Reading My Old Diary

“Write simple”, I said to myself.

But its difficult now. Knowing that you’re reading it. Acknowledging that someone right now is reading what I wrote resting on my bed, next to a charging point, sipping through a cup of tea just like every normal evening. I can almost feel you watching through the reflections of the mirror in the room, just like Aberforth watching over Mr. Potter.

Even though I don’t like sharing personal information, I’ve told you enough. And now I feel like you’d know me, know a part of me, know what I’m thinking right now, know what I’m feeling right now. Or maybe you still only know what I want you to know, right?

But its all in my head, I convince myself. That way, I can keep my focus on writing what I want to, share whatever I want to. By imagining that nobody is gonna read it… even though I want you to. And I know you are, aren’t you.. right now? That’s the writer’s dilemma. You want people to read you. You want people to say “You write so good!” and yet you don’t want their acknowledgement and their existence to affect your next writings. Same for me, I like it when people tell me that they read my blogs. And I guess it’s the writer’s skills on how he tackles this dilemma and continues to write..

Me, I’m solving it by temporarily imagining that this is just a piece of writing that’ll go straight to my diary. Yes I keep one. Since June 27th this year.

Wait.

Just a moment.

That’s a nice song playing in my collection. Let me copy this to my favourites playlist. (more…)

Silent Wishes

Silent Wishes

Today is about someone.

I didn’t say “Today, it’s about someone” you see.

I didn’t say I am gonna ‘write this story’ about someone you see. There’s a thin line of difference between writing a story about someone and writing about someone.. writing for someone…

And a person is only as good as you think they are :) So imagine the best you can… and this person would be better to me. Will I be exaggerating? Yes I will be. But let it be this way, won’t you? If I have to make a person, I might as well make the best living thing 😉 (more…)

Why People Leave

Understanding And Accepting – Why People Leave

2 days back, my 6th semester exams got over. It felt more like a relief from the fast (really really fast :P) semester that we had this time. It was almost like I remember the first day of the semester like it was yesterday.

Obviously, my brain will take some time to adjust to the fact that the semester is indeed over and I have no more exams to go, no more studying the same subjects and no more college visits for the time being.

What’s more interesting is that I still get up some nights, check the time in my cell phone (my cell phone does have a clock which nowadays is the primary reason for me to use a cell phone in the first place.. apart from receiving some telemarketing SMS and calls which consume most of my ringtone “consumption” and the occasional need to call a friend maybe and some rare cases when I receive genuine phone calls.. I am bad at talking so I avoid calling anyone whatsoever. Whatsapp forever 😛 Wow that was a large bracket text..) and still wonder if I had completed all of my homework for the day or calculate the time I still have that I can sleep before the alarm rings.. only to realize that there are no alarms now and no homework to do.

Ah the joy :)

That is still something we can happily adjust to. (more…)

When We Were Young

♫ Happy birthday… to you!! ♪

♪ Happy birthday.. to.. you!! ♪

And then the smiling boy let out a large wholehearted “Thanks!” to his friends and classmates who stood up to sing the song for him on his day..

The little boy ran to his bench, searched his bag for a big pack of eclairs that his mother had kept near his new lunch box… a shiny yellow one with a ‘Winnie The Pooh’ sticker on it. He had been waiting to tear the packet of chocolates since weeks, his joy was the proof. (more…)

Christmas

Xmas Couldn’t Have Been More ‘Xmasy’

Christmas, the ‘Ram Navami’ for Christians (going by definition), the festival of joy, decoration, gifts, Santa and what not. Sorry if I make any incorrect reference or statement about Christmas rituals because I am no Christian and nowhere near Christianity. Yeah once upon a time I studied in St. Xavier’s school. Actually I started my education there and studied for 3 years. ( KG to 2nd standard ^_^ )

I have some faint memories of what it meant to be in a Christian school those days. In a small town of West Bengal, that was a time where traffic didn’t bother, the size of your vehicle didn’t matter. I don’t remember if my school was far from my home or near. Well, I don’t even remember where either of those were 😛 I remember we used to get Christmas holidays which is equivalent to winter vacations for non-christian schools. But it wasn’t that the school remained totally inactive during the holidays, instead they prepared for Christmas!

Vacant

Hi.

So its been a busy week for me and in fact everyone at my college. Exams.

5 hours of sleep a day, no idea how many hours of study, an hour of day-dreaming, a ‘do I still have my i-card?’ moment, 3 hours of writing supplementary sheets and ‘one’ pen is what it takes to be me surviving exams. For others, probably the only difference is 0-2 hours of sleep a day and a ‘where IS my i-card!?!’ moment. Oh and sometimes zero pens.

And after 8 such 1.5x faster days including a Sunday break, here we are. 5/8 semesters far from the first day at college. 3/8 near to the last. I don’t know which one to celebrate though… Its more like a birthday you see. (more…)

Maggi

Thanks Maggi!

Disclaimer: This article was supposed to be live before the ban on Maggi got lifted, but I just got a little ‘too’ late in completing it! But that’s no reason to stop me from writing it anyways so for the moment, just assume a situation where Maggi just isn’t back yet 😉

.

Those rainy days when I didn’t have my umbrella with me, those ultimate moments when nothing else made me happy, those wonderful days when I waited to be home, the first thing I learned to cook, when there was nothing else, there always was… Maggi.

Not me, this is the voice of all those people, all those kids, all those youngsters and all those moms who had Maggi on their kitchen shelves. Except for moms, it was indeed the first thing a huge population of India would have learned to cook, keeping aside the fact that there wasn’t much cooking involved 😛 So today its not ‘me’ that would be writing this, its ‘we’ right?

Beatutiful Rains

Rains, Sisters, Mathematics

June, 16th.

Clear sky, hot summer, vacation time. I was working on a team project at my friend’s home. It wasn’t unusual for me this vacation to be busy, working. In the past 1 month I was busy (read enjoying) with my sister’s wedding. Today, I was busy on a project. Just as we were getting started with the project, my friend gets a call. It was regarding our semester 4 results. Yeah, you can check the date again, its June 16 I’m talking about!

So we packed the project work and ran straight for a cab to Nirma. After all it was the ‘suspense of the month’ moment. All those core subjects studied this semester, but my mind was on the one subject that we had all studied since we were born. A subject, the last version of which was taught to us this sem. Yes. Mathematics. Maybe I was more than curious to know how my last Mathematics exam would result.

AC cab, college visit after a month, what else do you need to forget the heat outside the cab huh? It felt like August. Cool, kind of rainy… or maybe it was just my imagination. (more…)

Minions on vacation

Things I Did This Vacation – Summer 2014

Its been about 2 months since my last semester’s exams ended. And for the past 2 months I and everyone from my college have been enjoying a nice break from the busy college hustle.

There’s one thing important that everyone does in their vacations – something interesting. And at the end of the vacation, if you are suddenly bombarded by a simple question about what you did the last summer, in my case I would normally take a few seconds and say – ‘nothing much’. Then I myself would think – ‘Really?’ And that would end up with me struggling to remember every small or large thing I did during the vacations. (more…)
